I remember something similar happening when I was a child...oh soooo many years ago hehe...my parents' car had hubcaps, and mom kept hearing this rattling sound. She decided, with 4 kids in the car to protect, she drove it to a tire shop...sure enough, all but one lugnut had come off and was rolling around inside that hubcap.
